The box-type substation, also known as a pre-installed substation or pre-fabricated substation, is a compact indoor or outdoor electrical distribution equipment that integrates high-voltage switchgear, distribution transformers, and low-voltage distribution devices into a factory-prefabricated unit according to a specific wiring scheme. It combines the functions of voltage reduction, low-voltage distribution, and other operations into a single, moisture-proof, rust-proof, dust-proof, rodent-proof, fire-proof, theft-proof, heat-insulated, fully enclosed, and movable steel-structured box. This type of substation is particularly suitable for urban grid construction and renovation,and is represents a new form of substation that has emerged after traditional civil engineering substations. Box-type substations are suitable for use in mines, factories, oil and gas fields, and wind power stations. They replace the original civil engineering distribution rooms and substations, becoming new type of complete power transformer and distribution equipment. They are designed for use in three-phase AC systems with a rated voltage of 10/0.4 kV, serving for line and energy distribution purposes.
